PayGo: Virtual POS

PayGo®: QR and code payments on any channel, anywhere.

What is PayGo

A virtual POS in every pocket

PayGo is a payment acceptance channel that lets any merchant receive payment through a scanned QR code or a short merchant code: a “virtual POS”. In the same way a physical terminal presents a payment request authenticated by card and PIN, PayGo presents a static or dynamic PayGoID that the customer approves in their own bank’s mobile channel. PayGo® is a registered trademark: an open framework any institution can adopt, on any national switch or scheme.

PayGoID: static & dynamic

Static codes identify a merchant; dynamic codes embed amount, currency and narration for one-tap approval at high-volume tills, eCommerce and bill presentment.

EMVCo standard

Built on the EMVCo QRCPS (Merchant Presented) specification, enhanced for domestic market realities.

Every channel

Customers pay from their existing bank app, USSD shortcode, WhatsApp or web checkout, no new app required.

Every merchant

From till-integrated supermarket lanes to a market stall with a printed code, plus plugins for Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, Wix and open APIs for custom builds.

How a payment works

Three steps, bank-grade underneath

01Merchant presentsThe merchant displays a static PayGoID or generates a dynamic code at the till, online checkout or invoice.
02Customer authorisesThe customer scans or enters the code in their own mobile banking channel and approves with mPIN or biometrics: step-up authentication with DUKPT-encrypted credentials.
03Payment processedThe acquirer processes the transaction: on-us within the institution, or off-us across the national financial switch, with settlement and reconciliation flowing through existing bank systems.
PayGo ecosystem iconography
Built for the ecosystem

No vendor lock-in. Everyone participates.

Issuers & acquirers

Banks keep full control of merchant relationships and commercials; existing AML, fraud and CFT systems continue to monitor every transaction.

MSP model

Merchant Service Providers extend the framework: aggregating merchants, enabling eCommerce and scaling acceptance without new hardware.

Real-time reconciliation

Every payment carries a high-entropy UUID reference across all systems, with standard summary and detail recon reports for every participant.

Layered security

Step-up authentication, device-bound credentials, biometrics and geolocation-aware risk profiling.
